The Word of the Lord is Firmly Fixed

Dear friends at TCF, last year at this time the word ‘Zoom” was little used apart from when referring to an ice-lolly or the 1982 song from Fat Larry’s band. Little did we know then how ‘firmly fixed’ that word, and the names of other such electronic platforms, would become in everyday life. Think about that as you read these verses from Psalm 119.
89 For ever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.
90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
91 By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants.
92 If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.
Isn’t it so encouraging to know, in a world where so little seems ‘fixed’ – settled, stable, reliable that (:89) the Word of the Lord is firmly fixed forever in the heavens – from where He rules the universe?
How wonderful that this God is not only infinitely powerful but eternally faithful (:90)
Then doesn’t (:91) blow your mind? There is nothing in the history of human existence that is not under His control – even when it seems not to be. There is nothing that can come into your life this year, welcome or unwelcome, that can do other than advance His plans for His people.
And (:92) gives us the key to living in the light of all this – that firmly fixed word of God in the heavens must be our delight on earth, and He has the power to work in us by His Word so that we are protected and preserved through all the ups and downs of life.
May the Lord richly bless you all at TCF this year, and may His Word be firmly fixed in His people.
