A Mind of Their Own

Has there ever been a more challenging time for parents and their children than the last year or so?  If you or someone you know have the same thoughts, you might like to put a date in your diary for another free online event up and coming from Care for the Family.

Motivated by their Christian faith, ethos, and compassion, Care for the Family is committed to supporting families of all faiths or none, with outstanding services and resources and support that are preventative, evidence based and easy to apply.

While this event may be more applicable to parents of early to late teenage kids, A Mind of their Own offers a wealth of wisdom, knowledge and advice that would benefit any parent. It will equip you to support your children to grow into strong, resilient young people.

Anxiety levels and poor mental health are on the rise in children and young people, and as a parent this can feel overwhelming … even at times debilitating.  But there’s good news!  You, as parents, have incredible power to help your children build strong emotional resilience and a healthy mental wellbeing.

This hour-long event will look at the unique opportunities and pressures facing young people today (including the COVID-19 pandemic) and explore the science of the mind, and why children act and react the way they do.  We’ll consider whether this generation is less resilient or whether there really is an epidemic of anxiety.

Katharine Hill, Dr Rob Waller and Dr Kate Middleton will share practical and preventative tools to see your children through the difficult times, as well as build resilience to guard against anxiety and depression.

  • An appreciation of how vital your child’s identity is and strategies to help them become confident in it.
