Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

I was fortunate enough to be raised in a Christian family where I was surrounded by Christian examples and teachings.  I was regularly at church and biblical lessons were all around me.  I found that having a foundation based on the Bible has been an anchor for me during the difficult times of life.

Now, as a father of 2 children, I want to pass on my faith to my family. This book offers some good ways to bring together an activity, a biblical insight with discussion and a prayer.

The adventures are split into 4 categories:

  • great outdoors
  • seasonal adventures
  • adventures at home
  • everyday adventures

The adventures, on their own, would be great ways to connect to your children with activities that many children will enjoy.  The great outdoors section is full of activities which will help your children grow in confidence in the outdoors.  The adventures then link the activities to biblical truths that you can discuss in a fun way.  Rounding off each adventure with a prayer is a good way to teach children that prayer isn’t just for meal time or bed time.

Included in the adventures are tips which help decide on which activity to choose.  The tips include information like age range, effort level, timing and the vital equipment which will ensure that the adventure is matched with your family and the time of year.

I look forward to using the ideas from this book to connect more with my kids and help connect them to God.
