From February 14th to 16th, members of Tayside Christian Fellowship gathered at the picturesque Faskally House in Pitlochry for a spiritually enriching weekend. With deep fellowship, powerful teaching, and plenty of fun, it was a time of growth, joy, and connection.

Guided by 1 Peter

Guest speaker Chris Thornton from Ford’s Lane Church in Bramhall led us through 1 Peter, unpacking themes of identity, hope, and perseverance in faith.

A New Identity in Christ

Chris spoke on A New Identity, reminding us that while the world may overlook us, God has chosen us first. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us, setting our identity in Him. Our destination is like a tough hike—fixating on false summits leads to discouragement, but keeping our eyes on Jesus fills us with awe and endurance.

Hope, Trials, and the J-Curve Life

Trials refine our faith, just as exercise strengthens the body. Chris highlighted the J-Curvehow Jesus’ life of suffering led to resurrection and joy. Our struggles are not setbacks but steps toward God’s greater glory.

Be Distinctively Weird – Holiness in Christ

Saturday evening’s message called us to Be Distinctively Weirdto embrace holiness. Are we striving to fit in, or are we shining like penguins in a sinful world? Holiness starts with worship, and when Christians stay silent, Satan fills the void. Jesus’ righteousness makes us beautiful, and we’re called to reflect His love, even in suffering. Forgiveness isn’t passive—it’s moving toward others, doing good even when it’s hard. True holiness is the most powerful witness we have.

Fun, Fellowship, and Fantastic Food!

Beyond the teaching, there was plenty of action! Arts and crafts including silk painting, a fierce table tennis competition, snooker battles, scenic walks in Faskally, and trips to Pitlochry’s visitor centre and charming town kept everyone engaged. But the real heart of the weekend? Fellowship over delicious food, endless tea and coffee, and the dedication of amazing volunteers who made it all possible.

A Weekend to Remember

Faith was deepened, friendships strengthened, and hearts stirred. As we left Faskally House, we carried with us a renewed understanding of our identity in Christ and the joy of walking together in faith. What a weekend!
